FastKhata ("we", "our", or "the app") is a digital udhaar (credit) ledger designed for kirana and small store owners across India. We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we keep it safe. We have built FastKhata with a privacy-first, offline-first approach — your business data stays on your device by default.
1 Data That Stays On Your Device
FastKhata stores all your business data locally on your phone. This includes:
- Customer names and contact numbers you add
- Udhaar (credit) entries — amounts, item names, dates
- Payment settlement records
- Your shop profile (name, address, phone number)
- Language preference and app settings
This data is stored only on your device using local storage. We do not upload your customer names, transaction amounts, or any financial information to our servers. Your khata is yours alone.
2 Data We Collect (Analytics Only)
To improve the app experience, we use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, non-personal usage data:

We never track customer names, amounts, phone numbers, item details, or any transaction data. Analytics is fully anonymous — we cannot identify you personally from this data.
3 WhatsApp Sharing
When you use the "Send Reminder on WhatsApp" feature, FastKhata creates a pre-formatted message and opens WhatsApp on your phone. Important points:
- The message is generated locally on your device — it is not sent through our servers
- We do not store, read, or have access to your WhatsApp messages or contacts
- You have full control — the message opens in WhatsApp for you to review and send manually
- No customer phone numbers or message content are transmitted to us
4 Cloud Backup (Optional, Coming Soon)
In a future update, we plan to offer optional cloud backup so you can restore your data on a new phone. When available:
- Cloud backup will be completely optional — you choose to enable it
- Your data will be encrypted before upload
- Only you can access your backed-up data using your phone number verification (OTP)
- You can delete your cloud backup at any time
5 Permissions We Request

We do not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, files, SMS, or location (GPS). The app works fully offline — internet is only used for analytics sync when available.
6 Data We Do NOT Collect
To be absolutely clear, FastKhata does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email, or personal identity
- Your customers' names, phone numbers, or addresses
- Transaction amounts, item names, or financial data
- Your contacts list or call logs
- Photos, files, or any media from your device
- Precise GPS location
- Any data that can personally identify you or your customers
7 Third-Party Services
FastKhata uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase Analytics — for anonymous app usage analytics. Firebase's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Firebase Crashlytics — for anonymous crash reporting to help us fix bugs faster
We do not use any advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or data brokers. FastKhata has no ads and will never show ads.
8 Data Security
Since your business data is stored locally on your device, its security depends on your phone's built-in security (screen lock, encryption). We recommend:
- Keep your phone locked with a PIN, pattern, or fingerprint
- Keep your Android OS and apps updated
- Do not share your phone's unlock credentials with untrusted individuals
For analytics data transmitted to Firebase, all data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS protocols.
9 Children's Privacy
FastKhata is designed for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.
10 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and notify users through an in-app update notice. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
